POSITION SUMMARY

As a Staff Software Engineer at Velocity Global, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the company's software products and solutions. As part of the engineering team, you will work closely with the product and design teams to understand the requirements and deliver high-quality software that meets the needs of our customers and operations partners. The ideal candidate should have experience working with Node.js, React or Java and should have experience building on AWS.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop software solutions that meet the needs of our customers and align with the company's overall strategy.
  • Work with the product and design teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality software on time and within budget.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure that all code adheres to the company's coding standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Continuously improve the performance and scalability of the company's software products.
  • Stay current with new technologies and industry developments to ensure that the company's software products remain competitive.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth and development of the engineering team.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Bachelor's  (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field such as physics or mathematics, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in software development.
  • Strong experience in one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, Java or Elixir
  • Experience with development frameworks such as Node.js and React
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in a remote environment.
