Senior Manager, Data Engineering

Location: REMOTE - UNITED STATES

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Data Engineering to lead our data engineering team. The Senior Manager, Data Engineering will oversee the development of our data infrastructure and systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance to support our organization's data-driven programs.

You'll ensure that we are building a scalable, reliable, secure, and performant data platform using best practices for delivering our products to market. You will ensure our data architecture is flexible to promote our growth into all businesses. You'll integrate and align data analytics roadmaps into an enterprise data roadmap to achieve the data strategy across our products.

You'll partner with other senior leaders across the company to translate technology capabilities into strategic decisions. You'll promote accountability and metrics ownership to translate strategy into results.

You will report to Senior Director, Data.

You Will:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the data engineering team, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Manage a team of data & software engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to support their success.
  • Design and implement scalable, efficient, and data architecture and solutions to support our data needs, including data ingestion, storage, processing, and analytics.
  • Oversee the development and optimization of data pipelines, ensuring accurate data delivery to support business intelligence and reporting requirements.
  • Establish and enforce data quality standards, governance policies, and best practices to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of our data assets.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies and trends in data engineering and analytics, and evaluate their potential impact and applicability to our organization.
  • Guide and advocate for a culture of learning to improve execution and remove roadblocks.
  • Partner and collaborate with management, business partners, analysts, developers, architects, and engineers to support data quality efforts.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve our data infrastructure and systems' performance, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers, including cloud providers, data integration platforms, and tool vendors, to ensure the delivery of data solutions and services.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations and industry standards and implement security measures to protect sensitive data assets.
  • Set up team performance goals and deliver performance reviews for your team members.
  • Influence quality and productivity improvements through involvement in the development of new and improved procedures, process innovations, training, and changes in corporate culture.

You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience working with large-scale complicated datasets; experience with relevant technologies and enterprise-level system implementations such as data warehouse, pipeline automation, BI visualization tools, and cloud-based data management tools
  • 3+ years of experience managing performant data engineering teams of approximately 6 to 10 engineers
  • 3+ years of experience in Data governance, compliance, and security best practices.
  • Technical expertise in data architecture, data modeling, ETL/ELT, SQL, NoSQL, dbt and cloud-based data technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable data solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, to lead and inspire a team of technical professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience building, growing a collaborative, client-focused & remote team.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree/work experience.
